Weapon Designer
Iterate on weapon textures with a 3D viewer.
Weapon Designer lets you load GTA5 YDR weapon drawables, apply replacement textures, and inspect model details in the browser. It shares the same 3D engine as Paint Booth.
Workflow
- 1Upload a .ydr weapon drawable file.
- 2Optionally upload a matching .ytd to load custom textures.
- 3Rotate, zoom, and pan the model to inspect all angles.
- 4Use the texture slot picker to swap individual texture channels.
Frequently asked questions
What files does Weapon Designer load?
GTA5 .ydr weapon drawables, exported from OpenIV or a compatible tool. You can optionally add a matching .ytd to load custom textures; both embedded and external texture dictionaries are supported.
Can I preview a weapon skin without loading into the game?
Yes — rotate, zoom, and pan the model in the browser 3D viewer and swap texture channels to iterate on a skin, with no in-game reload loop.
How do I swap individual textures?
Use the texture slot picker to replace individual texture channels on the loaded weapon and see the change immediately in the viewer.
Is it the same engine as Paint Booth?
Yes — Weapon Designer shares Paint Booth's 3D engine, so lighting and model handling behave the same way.
